How to remove background noise from a video on iPhone or Android
To remove background noise from a video, import it into Denoise, keep the default AI · Auto engine and tap Denoise: an AI model on your phone removes traffic, crowd chatter, fans, hum and wind from the soundtrack, and Denoise saves a new copy of the video with the cleaned sound. It works on iPhone, iPad and Android, on videos you have already recorded with any camera, and nothing is uploaded.

Good to know
- Only the sound changes. On iPhone, Denoise saves a new copy of the video at the highest quality and its original resolution; on Android, it copies the picture as it is, without re-encoding, into a new MP4.
- Music behind the voice is turned down along with the noise. To keep the music, or to remove it completely, use AI · Music, which separates the voice from the music (Separate vocals from music).
- Denoise removes noise, not people: a conversation at the next table is turned down, but a voice as close to the microphone as yours can stay.
- Built-in options: iPhone 16 and later have Audio Mix in Photos for videos recorded on those iPhones, Pixel 8 and later have Audio Magic Eraser in Google Photos, and Samsung Galaxy S24 and later with One UI 7 have Audio Eraser in Gallery. Denoise works on any video, from any phone or camera.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work on videos from a GoPro or another camera?
Yes. Any video with a sound track that you can put in Photos, your gallery or Files works, including MP4 and MOV files from action cameras and other phones. For wind on an action camera, see how to remove wind noise on iPhone or on Android.
Will it make my voice clearer for TikTok, Reels or YouTube Shorts?
Yes, when the problem is noise behind the voice: traffic, wind, a fan or a busy room. Denoise also sets the loudness to a standard level (−14 LUFS by default), so the voice doesn't come out too quiet next to other videos. Then upload the cleaned video as usual.
How long can the video be?
There is no length limit, free or Pro. Long videos take longer: a ten-minute video takes a minute or two on a recent iPhone.
Is it free?
Importing, cleaning and listening are free, with no account. Saving or sharing the result is paid: 3 exports cost $1.99, and Denoise Pro $2.99 a month or $14.99 once ($11.99 on Google Play). These are US prices from October 2026; the store shows yours before you pay.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The AI model runs on your phone, so it works offline and the video never leaves it.
